How to get Back Pain Relief and stay Pain free all Year

Hi everyone, I’m Jennifer Bellows. I’m a full time mom and also a full time assistant manager at an institution in here in Charlotte, NC.

I recently decided to build Back Pain Relief 365 to share a number of Back Pain Relief tips and information I’ve discovered through many years of discomfort.

I started getting low back pain, way back in high school when I was pretty active physically and participated in volleyball for our school team.

I can’t remember a particular injury, but it probably started because of the jumping and jarring involved in volleyball, and back pain stayed with me off and on through much of my adult life.

Low back pain can be a lifelong debilitating problem, and depending on the severity, can truly negatively affect your quality of life. Your body can feel like a total wreck.

Low back pain comes in many forms, including muscle strain, sciatica, herniated disc, pinched nerves, and word facet joints, all which can cause long term chronic back pain.

In the past, there have been times, I had to pretty much stay in bed for a few days, and  I’ve had times when I literally had to role out of the bed, and actually even crawl to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I couldn’t even stand up. It was that severe. Even though when it was that bad, I was in my 30′s, I felt like I was 90 because I was so disabled.

I’m a bit over 40 now, but I suffered with it for about 20 years on and off. Sometimes I went 6 months without an attack, and sometimes it constantly bothered me, for months on end.

After having a few children I ran into some pretty severe bouts as well, and because I hadn’t quite gotten back to my normal weight, naturally, a friend told me that I should drop a few pounds. Yikes. Cool friend. That’s the last time I get advice from her. My back problem didn’t have anything to do with my weight. I had the same problem when I barely weighed 110.

Over the years, I’ve pretty much tried everything, and finally have it completely under control. I’ll tell you more about what I do and use in some upcoming articles.

Types of Lower Back Pain

Well, no doubt you know what back pain is, or you wouldn’t even be here on this site.

But some of the more common symptoms of back pain are:

Ongoing aching and or stiffness somewhere along your, anywhere from the neck down to the hip joints.

Sharp pain in anywhere along the spine, particularly after some heavy lifting

Ongoing aching feeling in your back especially after prolonged standing or sitting.

Pain that goes from your lower back own through your legs to your knees. (sciatica)

Severe muscle spasms in the back to the point you can not stand, or cannot stand up straight

There are all types of methods to get relief from back pain.

There are back pain prescription medications, over the counter back pain muscle relaxants and quite a few treatments to relieve back pain, that don’t involve medication.

Traction devices, Inversion tables, special backs for your chair, special seats for you chair, and many other products are available to assist the ever growing population with back problems. I now use an inversion table about once a week, and it really seems to have been the answer for me.

There are even electronic devices, called TENS units, you can buy, that stimulate the nerves and offer pretty significant pain relief. I used one of these quite successfully a few years ago, and bring it back out about once a year when I’m sensing some oncoming problems.

There are also a number of exercises than can help with Back Pain Relief, including yoga, stretching, and just plain walking, which is probably the most helpful of all.

Even massage can give plenty of low back pain relief, let alone the relaxation it can provide to muscles that are tightened because of the pain.
